Solubility: Sodium formate is easily soluble in about 1.3 parts of water and glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol and octanol, and insoluble in ether. Its aqueous solution is alkaline.
Stability: Sodium formate decomposes into hydrogen and sodium oxalate when heated, and then produces sodium carbonate.

Preparation method
1). Carbon monoxide sodium hydroxide synthesis method: This is a commonly used method in industry. Specifically, carbon monoxide reacts with sodium hydroxide solution at 160~200°C and 2MPa pressure to produce sodium formate, which is then acidified with sulfuric acid and distilled to obtain the finished formic acid.
2). Carbon monoxide synthesis method in calcium carbide tail gas or yellow phosphorus tail gas: Sodium formate is synthesized by a specific chemical reaction using carbon monoxide in these industrial tail gases as raw materials.
3). Coke gasification synthesis method: Sodium formate is synthesized by a specific chemical reaction using the product after coke gasification as raw materials.
4). Carbon monoxide production method in synthetic ammonia raw gas: Sodium formate is prepared by a chemical reaction using carbon monoxide in synthetic ammonia raw gas as raw materials.
